Farmak, the leader of Ukraine’s pharmaceutical market, has completed one of the largest digital transformation projects in the company’s history — the implementation of the next-generation ERP* system, SAP S/4HANA.
The project represents a strategic investment in the company’s future, strengthening its resilience, decision-making speed, operational efficiency, and global competitiveness.
Farmak has been operating on SAP platforms for more than 12 years. During this time, the company used SAP ECC*** as the foundation for managing its core business processes. The transition to SAP S/4HANA became a logical and essential step in Farmak’s evolution, marking a new level of digital maturity for the business.
As a fully integrated pharmaceutical manufacturer — from the synthesis of active pharmaceutical ingredients to finished dosage forms — Farmak manages an exceptionally complex ecosystem of processes on a daily basis, including manufacturing, quality management, logistics, planning, procurement, warehousing, and international trade operations. The primary objective of the project was to create a unified digital environment for managing the entire organization while eliminating the need for additional standalone digital solutions.
As part of the transformation, Farmak phased out two external systems:
– LabWare (a LIMS solution for laboratories and quality control), whose functionality was integrated into SAP QM
– Orsoft (a MES solution for daily production planning), replaced by SAP PP-DS in combination with SAP IBP
As a result, all functionality was consolidated within a single SAP S/4HANA landscape without relying on external systems. This significantly simplified the company’s IT architecture, reduced the number of integrations, accelerated system changes and enhancements, and substantially improved process transparency across the organization.
The project included the implementation of:
– a core ERP platform for end-to-end business process management
– an operational production planning system
– mid- and long-term planning tools
– a quality management module
– a modern warehouse management system
– a next-generation integration platform
The project officially launched on January 17, 2024, with Go-Live successfully taking place on January 1, 2026 — fully in line with the planned timeline.
The project was delivered jointly by Farmak and partners from the international technology group msg group — msg Plaut Ukraine and Business Evolution.
