In September, the Charitable Foundation Farmak purchased and handed over six functional two-piece beds with Balkansky’ frame and six mattresses to the newly created Trauma Surgery Department of the Kyiv City Children's Hospital №1. In general, the Foundation allocated UAH 60,000 for purchase.
The Farmak CF worked with this hospital before. In 2015, the Foundation acquired two surgical tables for the Kyiv City Clinical Hospital №1 (total cost of UAH 120,000).
Filya Zhebrovska, Farmak CEO: "To support health care institutions is one of strategic priorities of our Foundation. We help them to purchase equipment, repair it, get supplies and so on. When they asked us to help with specialized beds for children’s trauma department, the decision was clear. Because children are our future, the future of Ukraine. And they should be healthy and strong. "
Oleg R. Pylypchuk, Head of the Trauma Surgery Department of the Kyiv City Children's Hospital №1: «Today in Kyiv there are 4 million registered residents, including about 1 million children. For that population, there are only two trauma centers and two pediatric trauma stations. According to colleagues working at the trauma centers of Kyiv, every day they treat about 140-150 patients. This is a very heavy workload. A big percentage of patients are children who require hospital treatment.
The pressing need of opening a new trauma clinic has been discussed for many years. And in June it was finally opened – 11 chambers with 30 beds overall. It was repaired by public funds. Other needs have not been covered; it turned to be our responsibility. We managed to acquire some beds, used furniture. Our sponsors help a lot, in particular, the Charitable Foundation "Farmak". Those six new specialized beds they bought for our department are extremely important. Given the fact that our hospital is going to open a new trauma station shortly, we will have a lot of patients (including those having scheduled surgery).”
