“Partnership for Sustainable Development” is an annual international competition that the UN Global Compact in Ukraine held for the fifth time. Its purpose is to collect best practices for responsible business conduct, which have been embodied in partnerships between private companies, the public and government sectors.
The contestants were evaluated by an international jury, which included experts on sustainable development and social projects from Japan, Switzerland, Germany, and the UK. The awards took place in four categories: “Society”, “Planet”, “Economic Development” and “Warriors of Light”. Among the participants are Ukrainian and international companies, in particular, Kyivstar, Nova Poshta, DTEK, Kernel, EPAM Ukraine, Porsche, Carlsberg, etc.
The initiative “Farmak: Light for Life” was implemented with the support of the Shostka City Council of the Sumy region. The project received an award in the Society category. At the beginning of the year, the Farmak supplied all students in the city of Shostka with reflective bracelets, and also created and demonstrated to schoolers a video that explains in an accessible form the rules of behavior on the road in the dark. The initiative is being implemented within the framework of the Memorandum of Cooperation signed by Farmak and the Shostka community, which provides for the joint efforts to implement projects for the socio-economic and cultural development of the community. Since 2015, Farmak has operated a plant in Shostka for the production of active pharmaceutical ingredients (APIs), so the company strives to develop not only its own production, but also the environment in which it does business.
