During the Round Table, Volodymyr Kostiuk, Executive Director of Farmak JSC, told about the prospects of launching domestic generic medicines on international markets and stressed the need for amendments to legislative acts: “The effective legislation of Ukraine in the field of protection of rights to inventions does not allow generic companies to carry out studies aimed at further registration of a generic drug until the expiration of a patent for the original medicinal product. This deprives Ukrainians of access to effective generics for less money. The Bolar Regulation allows generic companies around the world to develop, study, research and register generics until the expiration of patents for original medicinal products.
