The latter is a camera placed on the glasses and a device for processing information. The camera receives light signals, they are processed and transmitted wirelessly into the eye. The internal part generates electrical signals that enter the brain through the optic nerve. Such implants cannot yet restore vision fully, but allow a blind person to see the contours of other people and objects, as well as more confidently know the area. In 2015, such a device, Argus II made by the American company Second Sight Medical Products, was first successfully used to help people with macular degeneration.

In 2011, a new technology of prenatal diagnostics appeared, NIPT (Non-Invasive Prenatal Testing). It allows determining the chromosomal abnormalities that cause Down syndrome and some others with high accuracy from the 10th week of pregnancy. To take the NIPT, the expectant mother only has to give a venous blood sample. This is a safe procedure that can seriously harm neither the woman nor the unborn child. There is genetic material of the child in the mother’s blood, which can detect potential abnormalities using modern methods of analysis.

However, this method, like any other, should be used only for indications and in some isolated cases it can give false results. The NIPT method is available in Ukraine.

The vaccine against the Ebola virus was developed in different countries. But only in 2019 the FDA approved rVSV-ZEBOV (produced by Merck under the Ervebo brand name). The trials of the vaccine were conducted during an outbreak in West Africa and showed that it effectively protected against infection. The WHO also notes that vaccinating people who are already infected increases their chances of survival.
